Eric Garces
Guitar Teacher
Accomplished musician and professor, Eric Garces, M.M. is an experienced Classical Guitarist and Music Educator with a passion for mentoring his students to success. His career and talents as a musician were shaped at the UNT College of Music and SMU Meadows School of the Arts, where he earned his Master’s Degree under the instruction of the late Dr. Robert Guthrie, who himself was a student of the legendary Spanish virtuoso Andrés Segovia. Eric continues to share his talents and passion for music as an Instructor at Tarrant County College Northeast and Dallas College.
Eric is a multi-instrumentalist, whose musical background includes 20 years of Classical Guitar, 28 years of Electric Guitar, and 20 years of Bajo Sexto and Bajo Quinto (Mexican 12-string and 10-string guitars) with 23 years of live performance experience.
Eric’s instruction uses classical techniques applied to contemporary methods and includes diverse genres, including, but not limited to Classical, Pop, Tejano, Latin Jazz, Progressive Rock, Metal, Blues, Flamenco, and more.
Eric’s hobbies include spending time with his 2- and 5-year-old daughters, his long-haired dachshund named “Beans”, cooking with his wife, studying music theory, and guitar lutherie. Having apprenticed with a professional luthier in 2020 building classical guitars, he has enjoyed expanding his workshop, skill sets, and knowledge of the guitar.
